 DigiCore International - 2008 Review

DigiCore International has had an excellent year with 60% growth in unit sales, driven through proven and ongoing strategies.

The primary strategy has been the continued focus on our long-established partners and channels across Europe, UK and Pakistan, all of which have shown excellent growth during the period.

The most significant influence on the Ctrack GPS/GPRS fleet management systems has been the rapid increase in fuel costs, now firmly in place as the most important issue facing most fleet managers globally. Ctrack’s sophisticated backend software can help route planning to minimise overall distance travelled by multiple vehicles. This is critical to our fleet customers in their drive to reduce their businesses’ carbon dioxide emissions.

In most of our 35 international markets, the ongoing trend of reducing communication costs combined with ever-improving GPRS network coverage has made Ctrack hardware even more affordable. Now the return on investment on Ctrack solutions can be measured monthly in reduced fuel and maintenance costs, lower accident rates and lower insurance premiums.

Trakker Pakistan’s 24% growth in unit sales continues to strengthen its leading position in the region with an installed base of over 70 000 stolen vehicle recovery systems. Trakker Pakistan has concluded a number of strategic partnerships with financial institutions which stipulate that all their financed vehicles must be fitted with Ctrack systems.

DigiCore Europe has recorded excellent growth with unit sales up 38%, specifically in local delivery/service and engineering fleets where customer service has become a key differentiator in many markets.

During the year, DigiCore International successfully concluded the acquisition of the remaining 49,9% shareholding in DigiCore Limited in the UK.

DigiCore Europe and DigiCore UK have also benefited as governments enact legislation to make commercial vehicles safer and to log driver work records, resulting in greater demand for real-time automated reporting as a cost-saving measure for companies that want to reduce paperwork.

Trakker Middle East in Abu Dhabi had an excellent year with continued success throughout the United Arab Emirates in supplying fleet management solutions to car rental companies.

This business’s focus on the utility sector and launch of our Arabic software has also resulted in successes with the Abu Dhabi and Sharjah municipalities as well as the Dubai police.

DigiCore International’s strategy of offering full-featured, rugged, high-quality hardware and software solutions has clearly differentiated our offerings from those of most competitors which offer simple location-tracking systems and the à la carte approach of selecting additional features from a list. Our products are easy to upgrade and open to new features with comprehensive reporting options, and simple to integrate with existing back-office fleet systems.

DigiCore International and DigiCore Technology have concentrated on the successful implementation of the Royal Mail and BHP Billiton contracts. Both these three-year contracts are around 30% implemented and have resulted in new product developments that have further enriched our offering to other customers.

To support this growth internationally, we have expanded our international technical and partner support staff and implemented a regional hub strategy to provide commercial and technical support to our partners more rapidly and with greater focus. Malaysia is one of these hubs where we are now positioned for good regional growth.

Nigeria has prospered from its joint sales and marketing partnership with MTN Nigeria. The country has become an excellent example of DigiCore International’s unique position globally, where the products we offer cater for both the stolen vehicle recovery market and high-end fleet management arenas. This gives us considerable flexibility when evaluating new markets and allows us to segment the market to fit our offering to each individual client’s needs.

New distributors have been established in several markets, including Liberia, Guinea, Gabon, Burundi and the DRC.
